"You look very handsome." My mother said to me, straightening my tie. Her dark hair fell over her shoulders, down to her dark purple suit that fit her slim body perfectly. She was practically vibrating in excitement. When she wasn't straightening my clothes, she was pacing around me, red heels clacking of the tile floor. "You've told me that a thousand times." I said, rolling my eyes and brushing her hands away from me. "Oh, I know, but it's true." She replied, grinning. I couldn't help but grin back, and in no time there was the tall dark figure we've been waiting for standing in the doorway. "Helen." He said quietly. "Oh, you're finally here!" She said, walking to him and hugging him tightly. "I'm glad you showed up, now we have to get going." She said, straightening his clothes and grabbing his hand, dragging him into the light. His white hair had not changed that much, and his skin color was just a little drained. Instead of his raggedy red and black cloak he wore a shiny new red cloak with the same faded gray shirt and white pants. His arm braces looked new, but I couldn't tell for sure, along with his black knee high boots. His vibrant red eyes matched my mother's, and he looked at me as if I were still a child, trying to get piggy back rides from him.
"Hello Father." I said, nodding in his direction. "Marshall." He replied, nodding back. Mother smiled, obviously glad we had said something that had nothing to do with him abandoning me after the mushroom war, and clapped her hands. "Let's go!" She said, now walking towards the dining hall. "Good to see you too." I heard him say as I followed them into the dining hall. Mother giggled and sat him down in a fancy velvet chair, and then did the same to me. "Now you two just sit tight while I go check on the food." She said, patting my head and then smoothing down my hair again. After I waved her hands away from my head she turned and walked towards the kitchen, leaving me and my father sitting awkwardly next to each other. "So, Marshall, how have you been?" He asked in a gruff voice, trying to make conversation. "I've been good. As you know I have found a girl, and we are very happy together." I said, "Where-I mean, how have you been?" I asked, trying to stay off the topic of where he had been all these years.
"Great." He said, obviously wanting the conversation he had started to end, so we just sat in silence as Mother came back, grinning. "Everything is set, and I see our first guest had arrived." She said, smiling. Oh? I was so focused on avoiding eye contact with my father that I hadn't noticed the Ice Queen sitting a few seats away from me, doing her makeup in a small mirror. "Marshall, go greet her." Mother said, elbowing me in the rib cage. "Fine." I said, getting up and almost knocking over my chair in the process, desperately wanting to get away from my father. I stood next to the Ice Queen, waiting for her to get her makeup done, and we she finally put the mirror down and looked up at me, I remembered I hadn't invited her. "What are you doing here?" I asked rudely. Ice Queen looked offended and took out a piece of paper from her pocket, "I was invited silly." She said, handing it to me.
I looked at it and it said, "You are invited to a dinner in the Nightosphere." I chuckled and rubbed my eyes, "This is not one of the invitations I sent out." Ice Queen frowned and took the card from me, "Why? Is Nightosphere spelled wrong? Darn it, Gertrude said that was how you spelled it." I shook my head, "Trust me, that's not it. And try to not take spelling lessons from your penguins." I said, walking towards Peppermint Maid, who had just arrived. She was carrying a huge box, and was being rather clumsy, bumping into some pillars on the way to the table. "Here, let me help you." I said, taking the box from her. "Oh! Thank you Marshall! I was afraid I would be crushed soon!" She said, wiping sweat from her face. "Just take a seat." I said, motioning towards the table. She nodded and walked past me, trying to get as far away from my mother as possible. More guests showed up and I kept greeting them and taking the presents they were holding and this went on for a while until we were only missing two of our guests. And they were very special guests, and if they didn't show up I would never hear the end of it from my mother or father. Well, maybe after my mother murdered them.
I tapped the table impatiently and started to feel nervous. Dinner was supposed to start soon and Fionna or Cake hadn't showed up. This whole event was for Fionna, and I knew she wasn't much for formal dinners, but I didn't think she would ditch it all together. Almost everyone from anywhere showed up, so why wouldn't she? I kept thinking about the reasons as my mother stared viciously at the two empty seats next to me, until my thoughts were interrupted by several loud noises outside of the dining room doors. They then swung open and Cake stood in the doorway, her foot as large as me, and I assumed that's what she used to open the door. I stood up and was ready to greet Fionna, grinning, but as Cake walked into the room there was no one following her.  I walked to her, confused, "Cake? Where's Fi?" I whispered, very worried.
"That's the thing Marshall, I don't know. The morning was same old same old, but as we were getting ready for this she went into the bathroom to get perfume and then she just disappeared!" She whispered back, fear in her eyes, "I know she wouldn't have missed this for the world Lee." She said, closing her eyes and covering them with her paws. "She just was gone? Just like that?" I asked. "Yes! Oh, I don't know what to do." Cake replied, almost to the brink of tears. "Don't cry Cake, please." I said, pushing her lightly through the large doors she had almost flung off of their hinges, and slammed them shut. As I sat her down on the floor and tried to make her stop crying, I could only help but think, where was Fionna?
HERE IT IS FOLKS!!!!!!! Okay, I know I said I couldn't post any Fiolee, but that was because I had a completely different version of this chapter saved on my account, so I just wrote a completely different chapter, and I must say I am quite satisfied.
